Step by step instructions

After reading Review MNPN Product Merges further follow the instructions below to merge products in Product Maintenance.

1. From Minfos Stock Manager, click the Product Maintenance icon.

The Product Maintenance window is displayed.

2. Click Find. The Search window is displayed.

3. In the text box, enter an asterisk “*” and the MNPN of the product in the Slave column on the Product Merges screen shot; for example “*480219”.

4. Click Okay.

The Product Maintenance window is displayed, and shows the slave product.

  • It may be necessary to go and get the product off the shelf to help with reviewing the master and the slave product stockcards.
  • If the slave product has a SOH, check when it was last sold or purchased to decide what information - for example, retail price, barcode, categories and unit cost - you will keep from the slave. This information can be found by clicking Sales or Purchases on the Product Maintenance window.
  • If the slave product has a negative SOH, it is likely that it has the correct barcode and retail price.
  • If the slave product has a positive SOH, it is likely that is has the correct unit cost and categories.

5. With the Slave product highlighted, click Change to open the Edit window.

The Product Edit window is displayed.

6. Make of note of what attributes from the Details and Categories tabs that will need to be used during this merge.

7. Either make a note of the Product Number, or highlight and press [Ctrl + C] to copy it to use in step 13 to eliminate searching for the slave product in the Product Merge window.

8. Click OK or Cancel to close the window.

9. From Product Maintenance, click Find again."

10. In the text box, enter an asterisk “*” and the MNPN of the product in the Master column on the Product Merges screen shot; for example “*291183”.

11. Click Okay.

The Product Maintenance window is displayed and shows the master product.

  • If the master product has a SOH, check when it was last sold or purchased to decide what information - for example, retail price, barcode, categories and unit cost - you will keep from the slave. This information can be found by clicking Sales or Purchases on the Product Maintenance window.
  • If the master product has a negative SOH, it is likely that it has the correct barcode and retail price.
  • If the master product has a positive SOH, it is likely that it has the correct unit cost and categories.

12. With the master product highlighted, click Merge.

The Product Merge window is displayed, and shows your master product’s details.

13. In the Slave Product Product Number text box, press [Ctrl + V] to paste the slave product number (or enter the product number) then press [Tab].

Note: Product numbers must be different for the master and slave products.

The slave’s product details are populated.

14. Click the corresponding radio buttons to select the details you want to use from the Slave product or leave them checked for the Master.

Note: Product details that you select to use from the slave product will overwrite the corresponding details in the master product.


15. Review the Merged Product (Preview), which shows the details that will be retained in the merge.


16. Check the Confirm Preview check box.

17. Click either Merge & Queue Label or Merge, to merge the products.

Note: This process cannot be reversed. Ensure all details are correct before merging.

The Product Maintenance window is displayed, and shows the merged product.

18. Repeat steps 2 to 17 for all remaining product merges.
