This article relates to private or under-copayment items priced below the maximum PBS price to customer. Co-payment prescriptions (items subsidised under the PBS) will follow PBS pricing, refer here for more information.

Q. How does Minfos calculate dispense pricing for broken or part packs?

A. If there is a fixed price set for the quantity dispensed, Minfos will use this price.

Otherwise, if a fixed price is set for a single supply of the drug, Minfos will use the fixed price multiplied by the required quantity, divided by the original pack size. The wastage factor and container fee is then added to this total.

For example:

Solone 30 tabs with a fixed price of $8.00. Quantity required 5 tablets. The calculation is 5 divided by 30, multiplied by $8.00, plus the wastage factor and container fee.

Note:
The wastage factor and container fee are prices outlined on the PBS website.
If there is no fixed price set, Minfos will continue to use the PBS calculated price.

Q. How does Minfos calculate dispense pricing for Fixed Price multipacks?

A. If there is a fixed price set for the quantity dispensed, Minfos will use this price, as long as this price is less than the maximum PBS price. If the fixed price exceeds the maximum price, Minfos will use the maximum PBS price.

For example:

A fixed price of $15.00 is set for Lipitor 80mg 60 tablets (i.e. two packs). If a multipack script is dispensed for Lipitor 80mg 60 tablets, Minfos will use the fixed price $15.00.

Otherwise, if a fixed price is only set one pack, this price will be multiplied by the quantity to get the total price.

For example:

A fixed price of $9.50 is set for Lipitor 80mg 30 Tablets (i.e. 1 pack). If a multipack script is dispensed for Lipitor 80mg 60 tablets, Minfos will use the fixed price $9.50 x 2 = $19.00.

Q. How does Minfos calculate dispense pricing for Reg24/Reg49 scripts with Fixed Prices?

A. If there is a multipack fixed price set for the quantity of a Reg 24 supply, this price will be used.

For example:

A fixed price of $59.00 is set for Lipitor 80mg tablets for a quantity of 180 tablets. A Reg 24/Reg49 script dispensed for Lipitor 80mg 30 tablets x 5 Repeats will use the fixed price of $59.00.
Otherwise, if a fixed price is only set one pack, this price will be multiplied by the quantity to get the total price.

For example:

A fixed price of $9.50 is set for Lipitor 80mg 30 tablets (i.e. 1 pack). A Reg 24 script dispensed for Lipitor 80mg 30 tablets x 5 repeats will use the fixed price $9.50 x 6 = $57.00.

Note:
If the fixed price is greater than the max PBS price for the Reg 24 supply, the max PBS price will be used.
If there is no fixed price set, Minfos will continue to use the PBS calculated price.
